IMAGINE THE IMPACT

How does a 5K Race make a huge impact on the global movement to end breast cancer forever?  Through the fundraising efforts of every participant.

You don’t need to be a fundraising expert to be successful at it – you just need the desire to stand up to breast cancer and make a difference.  Thanks to people like you, in 2011-2012 the Komen El Paso Affiliate was able to fund more than $372,000 for education, screening and treatment services in El Paso County, and over $111,000 to national breast cancer research!  This year we’re aiming even higher!  If every Race participant raised an average of $100 over the registration fee, the Komen El Paso Affiliate would raise an additional $1.5 million.  Together, we can save lives!

 Fundraising is easy with online fundraising tools! When you registered for the Race you automatically received your own fundraising website which can be personalized. Start now by logging in, and encouraging everyone you know to visit your site, see what you are doing in the fight against breast cancer and make a donation on your behalf. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays right here in the local community! The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund research.

Race Pink Pack Challenges

Race Pink Pack Challenges Are Here!  Beginning January 9, 2012, the Pink Pack Weekly Challenges will start. Here's how it works: simply register for the Race online at www.komenelpaso.org, be the first to raise a specified amount of money or complete a task, and win cool Komen gear! To be eligible to win, you have to complete the task DURING THAT WEEK. For example, one of the challenges may be to raise $100. Having already raised $100 does not qualify you for a prize. To win, you must be among to first to raise $100 THAT WEEK! So what are you waiting for?! 

Top Fundraiser Recognition

As part of our Pledge for the Cure program, the top three fundraisers will be recognized with prizes. In addition, individuals who raise $100 or more will be recognized with prizes. Pledges may be collected online or offline. To qualify for prizes, pledge money, including matching gifts, must be accompanied by an accurate and COMPLETED pledge form and must be turned into the El Paso Affiliate by 4:00 pm on March 9, 2012.

 3rd Place: One American Airlines Roundtrip Ticket ($499 value) on American Airlines or American Eagle to any destination in the contiguous U.S.

Pledge participants who are not in the top three will receive the following prizes based on the total amount of pledges, including matching gifts, secured and turned in by March 9, 2012:

 $100 - $249: McDonald's Arch card
$250 - $599: Simon Mall gift card
$600 - $999: Small Komen gift
$1000+: Larger Komen gift

Rules

•  Pledge money MUST be accompanied by an accurate and COMPLETED Pledge Form. Pledges that are not accompanied by an accurate and COMPLETED pledge form will not be counted toward pledge prizes.
• All pledge money, including matching gifts, must be received by March 9, 2012 to be included for pledge prizes. Pledge money can also be turned in on Race Day at the pledge tent. Fill out the Pledge Form with your contact information or collect pledges online at www.komenelpaso.org. Pledge checks should be made payable to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
• Bundle accurate completed pledge form(s), checks (DO NOT MAIL CASH), and mail to the Komen office at 1700 Murchison, Ste. 207, El Paso, TX 79902.
• All pledge forms must be accompanied by check(s) for the full pledge amount to qualify for prizes. DO NOT MAIL CASH. Komen is not responsible for cash unless you have a signed receipt from an authorized Komen representative. Please obtain a signed receipt from the representative when you deliver the cash in person. You will not receive a receipt for registration fees.
