About Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the Komen El Paso Affiliate

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, her promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested $1.9 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

Now in its twentieth year, the El Paso Affiliate is dedicated to the Komen mission, supporting and sponsoring breast cancer education and awareness programs throughout El Paso County. Since its inception, the El Paso Affiliate has produced more than $3.6 million to provide underserved men and women with breast cancer education, screening and treatment resources.  Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays in El Paso County. The remaining 25 percent funds national breast cancer research. For more information, call 915-533-4433 or visit www.komenelpaso.org.
